Young and talented Mikki Daniel has just released another very exciting CD of 14 tunes that includes some wonderful material with the spotlight on her lead and harmony vocals and some fantastic back-up musicians. She also plays guitar on her own composition, Girl From Kentucky, one of nine tunes that she either wrote or co-wrote. The album was produced by the great Dave Alexander who also plays trumpet and duets with Mikki on an awesome version of the pop standard It's a Sin to Tell a Lie. Dave also co-wrote with Mikki, She Should Be Me.
Madalyn Wallace and Leah Sawyer are heard on Harmony vocals on Mikki's She's Gone and the great Tommy Nash and Chuck Pangburn are the lead guitarists. There is top class fiddling by Dale Morris Jr., Brook Wallace and Halley Sandoz while Dale also plays mandolin on three tunes and guitar on Mikki's inspirational Heaven in the West. Both Josh Rodgers and Patrick Bubert are the album drummers and Jon Stutler plays clarinet and saxophone. Mark Gheen plays piano while Nathan Phelps plays bass and Scott Whitfield, banjo.
Mikki also wrote Swingtime Rocking Chair, Leave the Cards Alone, She Could Ride, Cold Blue Eyes and Prince Charming. Mikki also borrows from pop music I'm Gonna Lock My Heart, Lerner and Loewe's On the Street Where You Live and from the Tommy Dorsey big band Polka Dots and Moonbeams. The final tune is the inspirational I Met Jesus in Texas.
